The Epic of Gilgamesh tells story of the ancient odyssey of a legendary king. Originally written in Akkadian on 12 incomplete tablets, the story is full of twist and surprises that often pit men against beasts, monsters and even the gods themselves.
Found in the 19th century the Turkish Assyriologist Hormuzd Rassam at Nineveh in the library of the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal, the tablets were a wonder then and they’re a wonder now. With that, it’s my pleasure to bring you a brand new series starting in August where I’ll be retelling the story of Gilgamesh and Enkidu and explaining everything that transpires.
