When I was in elementary school 75 or 1976 I think there was an eclipse and the teachers told us to pick needlepoint through one paper and hold another paper under it and lift the first paper up or down to focus the light of the eclipse and it would shine on the lower paper which was a way of safely viewing when I came home and I told my dad he got a piece of clear glass and put it to the fire in the Smoke soot almost like a welding glass and we were able to observe it that way as well it was more direct and I believe a better View then a cast Shadow through a Venturi on a paper
